The difficulty of a content creator
The Difficulty of a Content Creator
1)Recording Yourself in Public
This is something many people struggle with, even those who seem full of confidence. I’ve been recording myself in public for over three years, but I still get shy at times and in certain situations. People often say, "Just do it, don’t worry about what others think," but it can be difficult when those around you aren’t minding their own business—whether someone laughs, stares, or makes you feel self-conscious.
These moments are challenging for most creators. What has helped me is reminding myself that the people around me are strangers I'll likely never see again, and within a few minutes, they’ve probably forgotten the encounter—and even what I look like. So, why worry?
What encourages me is focusing on who I am, rather than what I do. People tend to see you as you see yourself. Always try to remember who you truly are—or better yet, who you aspire to be.
Public recording tips
Recording yourself in public can feel awkward at first, but with the right strategies, it gets easier. Here are some tips to help you feel more comfortable and confident:
1. Choose a Comfortable Location
Start in places where you feel more at ease, like a park or a quiet street, and gradually work up to busier spots. Getting comfortable in less crowded areas will help build your confidence for bigger settings.
2. Use a Small or Discreet Setup
A smaller camera or your phone on a tripod can attract less attention. If you're not using a huge rig, people are less likely to notice or get curious, which can ease any discomfort.
3. Ignore Reactions (If Possible)
People might glance or stare, but most of the time, they aren’t really focused on you. It helps to remind yourself that their attention is fleeting and usually harmless. Try to stay in your zone and focus on what you’re doing.
4. Bring a Friend
Recording with someone else can make you feel more comfortable and less self-conscious. A friend can offer moral support and help you stay relaxed, turning the recording into a fun experience instead of a stressful one.
5. Prepare a Script or Plan
Know what you're going to say or do before hitting the record. Having a clear plan reduces nervousness and makes you look more confident, even if you're feeling unsure inside.
6. Dress Confidently
Wear something that makes you feel good about yourself. When you feel comfortable and confident in your appearance, it’s easier to focus on recording and not worry about others.
7. Use Headphones or Talk Into a Mic
If you feel weird talking to a camera, you can use headphones as if you're on a video call. This can make it look like you're simply chatting with someone rather than recording a video, which may attract less attention.
8. Practice Makes Perfect
The more you record yourself in public, the easier it gets. Start small with short clips and work your way up to more complex or lengthier recordings. Over time, you'll care less about what others think.
9. Act Like You Belong
Project confidence by acting as if recording in public is the most normal thing in the world—because it is. If you seem unsure or nervous, others will pick up on that. If you seem confident, people are less likely to question what you're doing.
10. Time it Right
Choose times when there are fewer people around if you're still getting used to recording in public. Early mornings or weekdays can be quieter, which can make you feel less self-conscious.
11. Expect Some Attention
Understand that some people might stare or show curiosity—it’s human nature. If someone asks what you're doing, a friendly explanation like, "Oh, I'm just filming for my vlog/channel," usually puts people at ease. Most people will be supportive or indifferent.
12. Keep it Moving
If standing in one place makes you feel awkward, try walking while you record. This can make the experience feel more natural and less like you’re putting on a performance in one spot.
13. Focus on Your Audience
Instead of thinking about the people around you, focus on the audience you're creating content for. Visualizing that you're speaking to them can help take your mind off the public setting.
By incorporating these strategies, you'll gradually become more comfortable recording yourself in public and start to enjoy the process.
How can you stay confident
Staying confident often comes from a combination of mindset, practice, and self-awareness. Here are some ways to maintain confidence:
Focus on Personal Growth: Confidence grows when you work on yourself and see progress. Set small, achievable goals and celebrate your wins, no matter how small.
Embrace Mistakes: Everyone makes mistakes—what matters is how you bounce back. Instead of fearing failure, see it as a learning opportunity that helps you improve.
Positive Self-Talk: Be mindful of how you speak to yourself. Replace negative thoughts with positive affirmations and reminders of your strengths and accomplishments.
Prepare Well: Whether it’s for work, a social situation, or public speaking, preparation can give you the boost you need. The more prepared you feel, the more confident you’ll be.
Surround Yourself with Positivity: Surrounding yourself with supportive people who uplift and encourage you can have a huge impact on your confidence. Avoid negative environments that bring you down.
Practice Self-Compassion: Be kind to yourself. Treat yourself with the same understanding and patience you would give to a friend. Confidence comes from self-acceptance and knowing that you are enough as you are.
Maintain Good Posture and Body Language: The way you carry yourself affects how you feel. Stand tall, make eye contact, and smile. These small adjustments can trick your brain into feeling more confident.
Visualize Success: Picture yourself succeeding in what you’re about to do. Visualization can help calm nerves and increase your belief in your own abilities.
Learn Continuously: Knowledge and experience breed confidence. The more you know about something, the more capable and confident you’ll feel when faced with challenges.
Remember Your Why: Focus on the bigger picture—why you’re doing something. When you have a strong purpose, it’s easier to push through self-doubt and stay confident.
What keeps you confident is ultimately unique to you, but these approaches can help strengthen your self-belief.
2) Staying consistent
This used to be one of my biggest challenges, but I found a solution when I changed the way I view consistency. Instead of trying to create content every day, I started batching my work. I now create all my content in just two days and use the following two days for editing. This approach not only saves me time and energy but also gives me more free time to pursue other interests without worrying about having enough content to stay consistent.
This might not be the perfect solution or the only way to tackle this issue, but it’s what has been working for me and is the closest thing I have to a solution for this problem.
3) Keeping fit
Your shape, size, and height do influence your style choices, but instead of stressing over things you can't change, focus on what you can control. Pay attention to what you eat, exercise regularly, and stay fit—simple actions that can make a big difference. The gym may cost money, but taking a walk is free.
Most importantly, don’t put too much pressure on yourself or get too emotional about it. Stay positive. The small changes you make can have a huge impact. When you feel good about what you're wearing, your confidence will skyrocket!
